Det. Chief Supt. Martin Brunning – Head of Crime (Major Crime Unit and Scientific Services Unit) Joint Protective Services – Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies, is currently chairing a ‘Wellbeing of Investigators’ working group, a sub group of the NPCC Recruitment, Retention and Wellbeing of Investigators Programme. The aim of the group is to understand the national picture relating to the wellbeing of Detectives and Police Staff Investigators.
They are working with colleagues in the College of Policing, Oscar Kilo, Police Federation and force champions to identify best practice that can be shared with colleagues nationally. Furthermore, as a member of the HWG and part of the PREPARE work stream, DCS Brunning has been in discussion across UK policing to better understand the position of support to the wellbeing of our Senior Investigating Officer community.
The group have recently prepared a newsletter which brings together tried and tested best practice as well as emerging news from key stakeholders. They have also developed an A-Z of resources so that anyone who is seeking help for their wellbeing can find it in one place.
The newsletter can be found below:
If you have any information or best practice you would wish to share, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Programme Manager Suzanne.Hughes2@south-wales.police.uk
