On the 18th and 19th September Oscar Kilo will be at the Emergency Services Show in Birmingham’s NEC for the second year running. So much has happened in the last 12 months and we are really excited to share with the wider Emergency Services what we’ve been doing.
Since last year’s event, Oscar Kilo became the home of the brand new National Police Wellbeing Service which was launched in April. This event will give us the opportunity to share and spread the news of what the NPWS is about, what we do and what are the organisational benefits for Forces.
The National Police Wellbeing Service provides support and guidance for all police forces to improve and build upon wellbeing within their organisation. It has been developed for policing, by policing and is designed to meet the unique needs of officers and staff.
It provides practical support for forces in eight key areas, they are;
- Dealing with trauma, major incidents and disaster resilience
- Psychological screening
- Individual resilience
- Peer support
- Leadership for wellbeing
- Wellbeing at work
- Mobile outreach service (Wellbeing vans)
- Benefits Realisation
One of the main service offerings is the Outreach Service, a fleet of bespoke fitted vans, which can be deployed to operating bases across the country, offering physical, psychological and financial health checks to officers and staff. A fully staffed van will be on display for the duration of the Emergency Services Show.
So far, these vans have been used by 18 police forces around the country and thousands of officers and staff have been able to have health checks, chats to counsellors and find out more about what wellbeing services are available to them locally.
These vans can be booked by Police Forces from around the country and we would encourage them to make use of this resource to take their wellbeing provision to the front line.
