Working in UK policing we all face significant challenges. This includes the prevalence of incidents impacting the BAME community – and coinciding with the COVID-19 crisis, we find we are more isolated ‘virtually’. Additionally, there are ongoing and historical issues and we might experience a struggle to be our authentic selves.
We are transitioning globally to a new ‘norm’, with huge changes over the last few months following the outbreak of COVID-19. As we do this, we also need to acknowledge and deal with the impact of the past, and build strategies for us not to just survive, but flourish and thrive.
To recognise these challenges, the National Police Wellbeing Service has funded individual resilience sessions hosted by Bailey and French, to offer you the opportunity to access a FREE one hour ‘Online Individual Resilience Check-in‘.
These sessions are being held by the National Black Police Association and they are fully supported by the Police Federation.
The sessions will be on: Friday 19 June at 10am, Monday 22 June at 11am and Wednesday 1 July at 2pm.
Due to the nature of these check-ins you can sign up to one or all the sessions, it’s up to you.
During these virtual workshops you will join fellow police officers and staff from minorities from across the UK to experience a meaningful human connection.
You will have the opportunity to share your experience and defuse, through discussion, with peers who you may or may not know. The session will include delegates coming together for a whole group discussion, then individuals sharing their experiences in smaller groups.
People who joined previous workshops found the session uplifting, they enjoyed just talking to others, discussing their worries and offering support and tips on how to reframe and cope.
Using the latest in virtual technology we are making this drop in approach available to all officers and staff.
