A blog written by John Sutherland has been published this week as he retires from the service after 25 years in the job.
Since 2015, he has written many blogs which have had a profound effect on a lot of people within the service as he publicly documented his journey thorough his career and the challenges with his mental health.
At the end of January, he had announced how he was being given medical retirement from the Metropolitan Police Service
In this blog ‘A Retirement Speech’ he writes openly and honestly to four distinct groups of people all of whom have had a direct but unique effect on him throughout his career.
Chief Constable Andy Rhodes tweeted; “An honest, humble and accurate summary of policing in 2018 that as many people as possible should read”
